NRF1 Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total NRF1 protein.
Source / Purification
Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Leu167 of human NRF1 protein. Antibodies are purified by protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.
Background
Nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1) was identified as a transcription activator for the gene encoding cytochrome c (1). It was later found to play a role in the nuclear control of mitochondrial function (1). PGC-1 induces the expression of NRF1 and NRF2 (2). NRF1, along with the coactivator PGC-1, stimulates the promoter of mitochondrial transcription factor A, which regulates mitochondrial biogenensis and function (2). Recently, C. elegans SKN-1, the ortholog of mammalian NRF1/2/3, was implicated in stress resistance and longevity (3). In C. elegans, SKN-1/NRF is required to mediate the stress resistance and extended life span when either TORC1 or TORC2 is inhibited (4).
