Key Applications
Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin)
Immunofluorescence
Immunoprecipitation
Western Blotting
Biological Information
Immunogen
KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide composed of residues at the N-terminus of human Caspase-7.
Host
Rabbit
Specificity
Recognizes a region composed of residues at the N-terminus of human Caspase-7.
This gene encodes a protein which is a member of the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Sequential activation of caspases plays a central role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes which undergo proteolytic processing at conserved aspartic residues to produce two subunits, large and small, that dimerize to form the active enzyme. The precursor of this caspase is cleaved by caspase 3 and 10. It is activated upon cell death stimuli and induces apoptosis. Alternative splicing results in four transcript variants, encoding three distinct isoforms.
FUNCTION:SwissProt: P55210 # Involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. Cleaves and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs). Proteolytically cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) at a '216-Asp- -Gly- 217' bond. Overexpression promotes programmed cell death. SIZE:303 amino acids; 34277 Da SUBUNIT:Heterotetramer that consists of two anti-parallel arranged heterodimers, each one formed by a 20 kDa (p20) and a 11 kDa (p11) subunit. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION:Cytoplasm. TISSUE SPECIFICITY:Highly expressed in lung, skeletal muscle, liver, kidney, spleen and heart, and moderately in testis. No expression in the brain. PTM:Cleavages by granzyme B or caspase-10 generate the two active subunits. Propeptide domains can also be cleaved efficiently by caspase-3. Active heterodimers between the small subunit of caspase-7 and the large subunit of caspase-3, and vice versa, also occur. SIMILARITY:SwissProt: P55210 ## Belongs to the peptidase C14 family.

Usage Statement
Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.
Storage and Shipping Information
Storage Conditions
2 year at -20°C from date of shipment. Upon first thaw, and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C.Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol-containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
