Autophagy is the process by which cells recycle cytoplasm and dispose of excess or defective organelles. This process is suggested to be involved in development, differentiation, growth regulation, and tissue remodeling in multicellular organisms. Atg (APG10 protein) plays a role in the conjugation of APG5 to APG12 and this conjugate is required for elongation of the isolation membrane to form a complete spherical autophagosome. APG10 is able to interact with MAP1LC3A and with APG5 and APG7.

Please note that this product will not be available for sale after March 15, 2015. Please select one of the other antibodies against this target. Anti-Atg7 Antibody, clone EP1759Y, Rabbit is an antibody against Atg7 for use in IH(P), IC, IP, FC & WB.
Key Applications
Western Blotting
Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin)
Immunocytochemistry
Immunoprecipitation
Flow Cytometry
Application Notes
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: 1:100 - 250 dilution from a previous lot detected Atg7 in human liver tissue.
Biological Information
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the C-terminus of human Atg7.
This gene was identified based on homology to Pichia pastoris GSA7 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae APG7. In the yeast, the protein appears to be required for fusion of peroxisomal and vacuolar membranes. The protein shows homology to the ATP-binding and catalytic sites of the E1 ubiquitin activating enzymes. [provided by RefSeq].
FUNCTION:Functions as an E1 enzyme essential for multisubstrates such as GABARAPL1 and ATG12. Forms intermediate conjugates with GABARAPL1 (GABARAPL2, GABARAP or MAP1ALC3). Formation of the final GABARAPL1-PE conjugate is essential for autophagy By similarity.
SUBUNIT STRUCTURE:Homodimer By similarity. Interacts with ATG3 and ATG12. The complex, composed of ATG3 and ATG7, plays a role in the conjugation of ATG12 to ATG5.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION:CytoplasmProbable.
TISSUE SPECIFICITY:Widely expressed, especially in kidney, liver, lymph nodes and bone marrow. Ref.4
DOMAIN:The C-terminal part of the protein is essential for the dimerization and interaction with ATG3 and ATG12 By similarity.
SEQUENCE SIMILARITY:Belongs to the ATG7 family.
Product Usage Statements
Quality Assurance
Evaluated by Western Blotting on Jurkat cell lysates.
Western Blotting Analysis:
1:500,000 dilution of this antibody was used to detect Atg7 in Jurkat cell lysate.
Usage Statement
Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.
Storage and Shipping Information
Storage Conditions
Stable for 1 year at -20ºC from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt, and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
