CD49f (also known as α6 integrin) plays a role in cell adhesion and is expressed on a variety of cells. In epidermal and mammary epithelial cells, high expression of CD49f is associated with progenitor and stem cell activity. In the mouse mammary gland, CD49f is the single most important marker in selecting mammary stem and progenitor cells. This antibody reacts with both human and mouse CD49f. This monoclonal antibody was generated from rats immunized with BALB/C mouse mammary tumour cells. The fusion partner was SP2/0 mouse myeloma cells.
