COX IV Antibody用于检测内源性COX　IV总蛋白水平。多克隆抗体是通过合成对应于人COX IV蛋白Lys29序列的肽段免疫动物获得，抗体经Protein A和肽亲和层析纯化。细胞色素C氧化酶(COX)是由13个亚基组成的定位于线粒体内膜的异寡聚体（1-3）。它是线粒体氧化呼吸链的最后一个环节的酶复合体，负责将氧分子还原为水，并且将该反应与质子跨线粒体 内膜并驱动ATP的合成反应相耦联。该复合体催化核心的三个大的亚基是由线粒体DNA编码的，而其它的小的亚基，包括COX IV是核基因编码。COX基因的缺陷与很多人类疾病有关（4）。COX IV抗体经常作为线粒体内参对照使用。

COX IV Antibody detects endogenous levels of total COX IV protein.

Source / Purification

Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Lys29 of human COX IV. Antibodies were purified by protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.

Background

Cytochrome c oxidase (COX) is a hetero-oligomeric enzyme consisting of 13 subunits localized to the inner mitochondrial membrane (1-3). It is the terminal enzyme complex in the respiratory chain, catalyzing the reduction of molecular oxygen to water coupled to the translocation of protons across the mitochondrial inner membrane to drive ATP synthesis. The 3 largest subunits forming the catalytic core are encoded by mitochondrial DNA while the other smaller subunits, including COX IV, are nuclear-encoded. Deficiency in COX activity has been correlated with a number of human diseases (4). The COX IV antibody can be used effectively as a mitochondrial loading control.
