Reacts with e progam death 1(PD-1) recptor CD279, ameber ofthe Igsuperfamily. CD279 isan imunoregulatory ecptor expresd

on activated Tcels, Bcels and myeloid cels. Mice dficent iCD279 show abreakdown ofperipheral toerance and manifest multipe

autoimune symptoms. Itcontains animunorecptor yosine-based inhbitory motif (ITM) inthe cytoplasmic region. PD-L1 and PD-L2

are ligands ofCD279 and are mebers ofthe B7 gen family. Interaction fCD279:PD-Ligands results inhibton fT cel proliferation

and cytokine scretion. Reports ugest hat he B7/CTLA-4 pathway functions primarily toatenuate, limt, and/or teminate naïve T-cel

activation isecondary lmphoid organs. The PD-ligand:CD279 pathway, onthe other hand, may primarily atenuate, limt, and/or teminate
