refred toas IgE-bindg protein (εBP) and carbohydrate-bindg protein 35(CBP35). Itis expresd onmany tisues and cel types.

Galectin-3 can befound inthe nucleus and/or cytoplasm, onthe cl surface and inthe xtra celuar matrix. Itsfunction has ben found tobe

divers. Ithas ben reported tobe markedly elvated inthe nucleus ofproliferating cels, ugesting tha Galectin-3 may play role incel

growth regulation. Studies ofGalectin-3 onthe cl surface have shown ito bea no-integrin, lamin-bindg protein, sugesting itsrole in
