Ambion® RNase T1 (E.C. 3.1.27.3) is isolated from an over-expressing E. colistrain containing the cloned Aspergillus oryzae gene and is an endonuclease that specifically cleaves 3' of G residues. Supplied in one tube containing 100,000 U (1,000 U/ µL). This is an extremely pure preparation suitable for RNA mapping studies and other less demanding uses but priced similarly to less purified preparations. RNase T1 is rigorously tested for contaminating nonspecific endonuclease, exonuclease, and protease activity.
Unit Definition: 100 units of RNase T1 is the amount of enzyme that yields an increase in absorption at 260 nm of 0.01428 units per min at room temperature using 60 µg/mL yeast total RNA as a substrate.
