AHP995 recognises an epitope within the N-terminal region (NT) of APOBEC3G (apolipoprotein B mRNA-editing, enzyme-catalytic, polypeptide-like 3G), a 46kDa multi-isoform endogenous deoxycytidine deaminase, which plays a major role in the defence of T lymphocytes against retroviral infection.
The incorporation of APOBEC3G into HIV-1 virion DNA, results in the deamination of dC to dU in minus-strand viral DNA during reverse transcription, thereby generating G to A hypermutations in the newly-synthesised viral DNA. The effect of APOBEC3G is counteracted by the HIV protein Vif, thought to induce the degradation of APOBEC3G through a ubiquitin-dependant proteasomal pathway.
AHP995 also detects the APOBEC3F isoform (apolipoprotein B mRNA-editing, enzyme-catalytic, polypeptide-like 3F).

This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose.

This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
