AHP922 is specific for the alpha 4 subunit of rat gamma-aminobutyric acid A (GABAA) receptor.
GABAAreceptors are GABA gated chloride channels, which are important mediators of neuronal inhibition in the mammalian central nervous system. Activation of the GABAAsite results in increased intracellular chloride concentration and hyperpolarization of the cell.
GABAAreceptors are pentameric structures assembled from a family of distinct subunits. At least fourteen distinct subunits have been identified, which show distinct patterns of temporal and spatial expression.
GABAAreceptors may be modulated by several drug types including benzodiazepines and barbiturates, and by phosphorylation by protein kinase C (PKC) and protein kinase A (PKA).

Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP922 detects a band of approximately 64kDa in rat brain lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to GABAAreceptor were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
