AHP874 is specific for human BARD1 (BRCA1 associated Ring Domain 1).
BARD1 possesses an N-terminal RING motif and the C-terminal BRCT domain. As the name suggests, this protein is the major cellular binding protein of BRCA1. BARD1 is thought to play a key role in regulating BRCA1 stability, localisation and function.
BARD1 is also reported to function as a tumour suppressor, since mutations in this protein have been implicated in a number of breast and ovarian cancers.
