AHP663 recognises an epitope at the C-terminus of human amyloid precursor protein (APP).
APP is a 110-130kD transmembrane protein. Processing of APP by Beta-secretase gives rise to amyloidogenic beta-amyloid proteins, deposition of which are characteristic of Alzheimer disease.
APP exists in a number of isoforms. APP(695) is predominant in neuronal tissue, whilst APP(751) dominates elsewhere.
APP also inhibits Notch signaling through it’s interaction with NUMB.
