AHP596 recognises the C-terminal region of human histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3). Histone acetylation and deacetylation play important roles in modifying chromatin structure and regulating eukaryotic gene expression. HDAC3 has been characterized as a class I HDAC enzyme. HDAC3 is reported to interact with the SMRT corepressor forming a complex which inhibits histone deacetylase activity.
