AHP518H recognises human calcitonin. Calcitonin is a peptide hormone that lowers blood calcium concentrations. It is released by C cells within the thyroid, and is important in the regulation of plasma calcium levels.
This antibody stains parafollicular cells of normal thyroid, and cells of medullary 'C' cell carcinomas.
