AHP2256 specifically recognises AMPK alpha 2, otherwise known as PRKAA2, a Serine/threonine-protein kinase and the catalytic subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), a central metabolic sensor, essential for the regulation of fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis, in response to fluctuations in nutrient and intracellular energy levels.
AMPK has been implicated as a suppressor of cell proliferation of both normal and malignant cells, and recent studies have shown that the binding of AMPK to the PS domain of ULK1, is essential for ULK1-mediated autophagy, and that the phosphorylation of raptor by AMPK, plays an important role in autophagy induction.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP2256 detects a band of approximately 65kDa in Human heart and liver cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human AMPK alpha 2 was raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
