Rabbit anti human PTEN polyclonal antibodyspecifically recognizes human PTEN (Phosphatase and tensin homolog (Mutated in multiple advanced cancers 1)), a ubiquitously expressed tumor suppressor protein, which acts as a dual-specificity protein phosphatase, and also as a lipid phosphatase.
PTEN plays a role in the modulation of cell cycle progression and survival, through the dephosphorylation of phosphoinositides and antagonization of the PI3K-AKT/PKB signaling pathway, and also acts as a key modulator of the AKT-mTOR signaling pathway, during adult neurogenesis, including the correct positioning of neurons, the development of dendrites, and the formation of synapses.
PTEN is one of the most commonly mutated tumor suppressor genes in human cancer, and studies have shown that defects in the regulation of the PTEN gene, via the Notch signaling pathway, may be important in the formation of prostate tumors. Defects in PTEN are associated with many disorders including Cowden disease (CD), Lhermitte-Duclos disease (LDD), Bannayan-Zonana syndrome (BZS), and head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC).
Rabbit anti human PTEN polyclonal antibodyrecognizes an epitope that maps to a region between residue 350 and the C-terminus (residue 403) of human phosphatase and tensin homolog.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
This product detects bands of approximately 60kDa and 96kDa in GST-PTEN transfected 293T whole cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC. DO NOT FREEZE.
This product should be stored undiluted. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
12 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human PTEN was raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography using an epitope specific to PTEN.
