This product specifically recognises human Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA), a naturally occurring inflammatory inhibitor protein, produced by monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, corneal epithelial cells and fibroblasts, which inhibits the activity of IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta, by competitively blocking binding to cell surface receptors for IL-1.
Genetic variations in IL-1RA gene (IL1RN) are associated with susceptibility to microvascular complications of diabetes type 4 (MVCD4), and IL-1RA has therapeutic applications in rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, psoriasis, sepsis, chronic myelogenous leukaemia and inflammatory bowel disease.

Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.

Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human IL-1RA were raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
This purified human IL-1RA antibody may be used in an indirect ELISA or as the capture reagent in a sandwich ELISA with abiotinylated human IL-1RA antibody(AHP2184B) as the detection reagent andrecombinant human IL-1RA(PHP080) as the standard.
