AHP2113 specifically recognises an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of Munc-18, otherwise known as STXBP1, a syntaxin-binding, pre-synaptic protein and member of the STXBP/UNC-18/SEC1 family, expressed in the brain and spinal cord, and at significantly high levels in neuronal axons.
Munc-18 is a vital component of the synaptic vesicle fusion protein complex, playing a critical role in calcium-dependent neurotransmitter release, and in the regulation of the exocytosis of neurons and neuroendocrine cells. Studies have shown that isoform a of Munc-18 (Munc 18-1/Munc18a), acts as a regulator of insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells.
AHP2113 is expected to recognise Munc 18-1.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP2113 detects a band of approximately 75kDa in human and mouse brain cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human Munc-18 (CT) was raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
