AHP2023 specifically recognises human WNT-4, a secreted protein and member of the Wnt family, which acts as a ligand for members of the frizzled family of seven transmembrane receptors, and is involved in the development of mammalian female (ovary) and male (testis) gonads, during embryonic development.
Defects in WNT-4 are the cause of female SERKAL syndrome and Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome (RKH syndrome). Overexpression may be associated with abnormal proliferation in human breast tissue.
