AHP1943 recognises Wilms Tumour 1 (WT1), also known as WT33, a 449 amino acid transcription factor.
WT1 plays an important role in cellular development, in particular in the development of the urogenital system, additionally WT1 functions in both the role of a tumour suppressor and in an oncogenic manner in tumour formation.
Defects in the the WT1 gene result in a range of disease states including Frasier syndrome and Wilms Tumour 1.
WT1 is expressed in the Kidney and a subset of haematopietic cells. At least 7 isoforms of WT1 have so far been recognised.
