AHP1932 specifically recognises the 68kDa serine/threonine kinase, PLK1 (polo-like kinase 1), a nuclear protein belonging to the serine/threonine protein kinase family.
PLK1 is a member of a group of polo-like kinases which play essential roles in the progression of mitosis. PLK1 has been implicated in various stages of mitosis, including promotion through the activation of cyclin B1/Cdk (mitosis promoting factor), the formation of functional mitotic bipolar spindles, and the maturation of centrosomes.
Levels of PLK1 reach their maximum in the G2 and M phase. Following mitosis, the levels fall rapidly and become almost undetectable.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Immunohistology
This product does not require protein digestion pre-treatment of paraffin sections. This product does not require antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to Human PLK1 were raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
