AHP1803B specifically recognises human defensin beta 4 (BD-4), a secreted cationic antimicrobial peptide and member of the beta-defensin family, highly expressed in the testis, which plays an important role in innate immunity.
Studies have shown that the expression of BD-4 is up-regulated in respiratory epithelial cells, following infection by both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and that BD-4 acts in synergy with lysozyme and BD-3, seeConejo-Garcia, J.R.et al.for details.

After reconstitution store at -20oC.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
12 months from date of reconstitution.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human defensin beta 4 was raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
