AHP1722 recognises the long isoform of human Bcl-2-like protein 1, otherwise known as Bcl-xL, located on the mitochondrial membrane. The Bcl-xL isoform (the longer isoform) is a potent inhibitor of apoptosis. It appears to regulate cell death by binding to and blocking the voltage-dependent anion channel, thereby preventing the release of the caspase activator cytochrome c. High expression of Bcl-xL in tumours correlates to advanced disease and a poor prognosis.

Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to Bcl-xL was raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by immunoaffinity chromatography.
