AHP1671 specifically recognises human L-Asparaginase, otherwise known as asparaginase like 1, a cytoplasmic enzyme and member of the Ntn-hydrolase family, which catalyzes the hydrolysis of L-asparagine to L-aspartate.
L-Asparaginase is expressed in the testis, brain, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract and has been identifed as a sperm autoantigen in rats. L-Asparaginase has been shown to be over-expressed in carcinomas of the prostate, uterus, breast and ovaries.
