AHP1638 recognizes human Ribosomal protein S6 Kinase 1 (RPS6K1).
It has been demonstrated that RPS6K1 is an effector of the mammalian Target of Rapamycin (TOR), an evolutionary conserved serine/threonine kinase involved in the regulation of cell growth and cell cycle.
Studies in mice indicate that RPS6K1 may desensitize tissues to the effects of insulin.
