AHP1547 recognises the delta subunit of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor. GABA is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, regulating muscle tone and other functions. The GABAAreceptors are ligand-gated anion channels that mediate the majority of fast synaptic inhibition in the brain. GABAAreceptors are composed of five subunits derived from different subunit classes, the delta subclass being one of them. The GABAAreceptors are important targets for a variety of drugs such as benzodiazepines, barbiturates, steroids, anaesthetics and convulsants.
AHP1547 does not recognise other GABAA-R subunits as reactivity is eliminated in delta knockout brain.

Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1547 detects a band of approximately 52kDa in rat cerebellar lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to rat GABAAreceptor were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
