AHP1498 recognises human Receptor Associated Protein 80 (RAP80), a 79.8 kDa nuclear acidic protein. RAP80 acts as a transcriptional repressor, inhibiting the interaction of NR6A1 with the co-repressor NCOR1. Studies have demonstrated that RAP80 is recruited by CCDC98 to BRCA1 allowing the formation of BRCA1 foci in response to DNA damage caused by ionizing radiation. Along with CCDC98, RAP80 is required for DNA damage resistance, G2-M checkpoint control and DNA repair.
RAP80 is highly expressed by germ cells of the testis and is also expressed in the ovary, thymus and heart. Research has shown the existence of at least four isoforms of RAP80.

This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose.
Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1498 detects a band of approximately 80kDa in 293 cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human RAP80 was raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
