AHP1475 recognises human HP1Hsbeta (heterochromatin protein 1 homolog beta), a highly conserved nonhistone chromatin component and member of the HP1 family which are involved in heterochromatin formation, transcriptional activation and arrest, gene silencing and chromatin remodelling.
HP1Hsbeta is one of three mammalian HP1 homologues which localize to centromeric heterochromatin and are characterized by an amino-terminal chromodomain, hinge region and a carboxy-terminal chromoshadow domain. HP1Hsbeta is a component of both pericentric and telomeric heterochromatin and can directly associate with EMSY, TIF1 (transcriptional intermediary factor 1), LBR (lamin B receptor) and CHAF1A (chromatin assembly factor 1, subunit A) via the chromoshadow domain, and with tri-methylated histone H3 lysine 9 via the chromodomain.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1475 detects a band of approximately 25kDa in HeLa cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human HP1Hsbeta was raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
