AHP1458 recognizes human N-Acetylneuraminic acid phosphatase (NANP), also known as Neu5Ac-9-Pase. NANP is the final enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of N-acetylneuraminate, the main form of sialic acid in vertebrates. N-acetylneuraminate is often present on glycoproteins and glycolipids and plays an important role in protein-protein and cell-cell recognition.
NANP is approximately 30kD in size and belongs to the haloacid dehalogenase family of phosphatases. It is present in the cytosol and shows a wide tissue distribution.

This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose.

Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.

Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human N-Acylneuraminate-9-Phosphatase (NANP) was raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
