AHP1398 specifically recognises human orexin receptor-1 (OX1R), an approximate 48kDa transmembrane protein and member of the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.
OX1R acts as a receptor for orexin-A and orexin-B, two highly excitatory hypothalamic neuropeptide hormones, involved in the regulation of food/water intake and implicated in sleep-wake control.

It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1398 detects a band of approximately 48kDa in human brain cell lysates. An additional 35kDa band may be observed, confirmed by similar products.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human orexin receptor-1 was raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
