AHP1393 specifically recognises human chromogranin A, a 50kDa secretory glycoprotein and member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family, expressed by secretory vesicles of endocrine and neuroendocrine cells.
Chromogranin A is a precursor for the functional peptides pancreastatin, vasostatin, parastatin and catestatin, which act as negative modulators of hormone and neurotransmitter release in the neuroendocrine system. The measurement of elevated serum levels of chromogranin A is used diagnostically for detecting and monitoring carcinoid (neuroendocrine) tumours, and correlates with a poor prognosis in patients with prostate cancer.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1393 detects a band of approximately 50kDa in human kidney cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human chromogranin A was raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
