AHP1312 recognises sodium dependent glucose transporter 4 (SGLT4), also known as SLC5A9, a 76 kDa member of the solute carrier family. It is a transmembrane protein, expressed in the small intestine, liver and kidney. SGLT4 functions as a low affinity, Na+ dependent, alpha-methyl-D-glucopyranoside (AMG) transporter. Mannose, glucose and fructose inhibit this transport activity. SGLT4 is also thought to be involved in the absorption and/or reabsorption of Mannose, glucose, 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol and fructose.

This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose.

Antisera to human SLC5A9 were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
