AHP1297 recognises an epitope within the C-terminal region (CT) of rat GABA transporter 3, otherwise known as GAT-3, a 67kDa high-affinity Na+/Cl-dependent plasma membrane transporter and member of the sodium: neurotransmitter symporter (SNF) family, expressed in the cerebral cortex and retina.
GAT-3 is one of a group of proteins involved in the regulation of GABAergic synaptic neurotransmission, through the uptake and release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter of the mammalian central nervous system, which must be maintained at the correct level to ensure successful synaptic transmission. Further GABA transporter genes identified are GAT-1, GAT-2 and GAT-4, and many studies have linked neurotransmitter transporters with neurological disorders, including epilepsy and ischemia.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1297 detects a band of approximately 67kDa in rat hippocampal cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
12 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to rat GABA transporter 3 (CT) were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
