AHP1284B is specific for human IL-19 (interleukin-19), a 153 amino acid secreted helical cytokine belonging to the IL-10 family of regulatory cytokines, which is preferentially expressed in monocytes, but also expressed in B cells, and up-regulated in monocytes stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF).
IL-19 has been implicated as a regulator in the inflammatory response and signals through binding to a receptor complex (IL-20R) composed of the IL-20R1 (CRF2–8) and IL-20R2 (CRF2–11 ) chains, which leads to the activation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3).

Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human IL-19 were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
