AHP1221 detects an epitope within Trace amine associated receptor 1 (TAAR1), a G protein-coupled receptor activated by trace amines; endogenous amine compounds present in the mammalian nervous system in trace amounts.
TAAR1 may also be activated by metabolites of biogenic amine neurotransmitters including amphetamine-related psychostimulants. TAAR1 is a potentially important target for methamphetamine addiction.
