AHP1186 detects Slug, a member of the Snail family of zinc finger transcription factors, whose expression is induced by FGF, BMP, and TGF-ß. Slug is a 29kD transcriptional repressor, which functions by binding to E-box motifs and inhibiting gene expression by recruiting histone deacetylase-1 (HDAC-1).
Slug controls the expression of a wide variety of genes includingTP53, BRCA2, PUMandCDH1, and has important roles in apoptosis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. It is also thought to function in neural crest development.
Slug expression in breast, oesophageal, and colorectal carcinomas has been correlated with poor prognosis for survival. AHP1186 is not cross-reactive with Snail.

Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1186 detects a band of approximately 30kDa in 293 cell lysate.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human Slug were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
