AHP1061 detects an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) of cofilin 2, an 18kD protein which is involved in the regulation of actin assembly in developing myotubes through the reversible control of actin polymerization and depolymerization. Cofilin 2 is the major component of intranuclear and cytoplasmic actin rods.
Cofilin 2 is expressed in developing skeletal muscle at early foetal stages through to a young postnatal stage. During postnatal development, cofilin 1 expression in muscle is down-regulated and cofilin 2 becomes the only isoform in mature skeletal muscle. The onset of cofilin 2 expression is coupled with terminal differentiation of muscle cells. It is suggested that cofilin 2 could be associated with actin filaments in muscle cells more efficiently than cofilin 1.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1061 detects a band of approximately 18kDa in human duodenum, heart and muscle lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to Cofilin 2 were raised by repeated immunisations of goat with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
