AHP1018 recognises human Cadherin 13, a 78 kDa, calcium-dependent, glycoprotein. While Cadherin 13 is a member of the cadherin family, it lacks their conserved cytoplasmic region, being instead anchored to the plasma membrane via glycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage. It is expressed in the heart and CNS with the exception of the cerebellum and spinal cord.
Cadherin 13 is classified as a cell-cell adhesion molecule, although it is likely that it’s role is in signalling and not physical adhesion. It is involved in regulating low-density lipoprotein-initiated cell proliferation, keratinocyte proliferation, neural cell growth and may play a role in metabolic regulation. Cadherin 13 protects endothelial cells from oxidative stress-induced apoptosis and may contribute to progression of vascular disorders such as atherosclerosis, restenosis and tumour angiogenesis.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1018 detects a band/s of approximately 78kDa in 3T3 cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to Cadherin 13 were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
