AHP08 detects fibronectin, a protein which can bind cell surfaces and various compounds including collagen, fibrin, heparin, DNA, and actin. Fibronectin is present in the body in two forms; plasma fibronectin (soluble dimeric form) is secreted by hepatocytes, whilst cellular fibronectin (dimeric or cross-linked multimeric forms), made by fibroblasts, epithelial and other cell types, is deposited as fibrils in the extracellular matrix.
Fibronectin is involved in cell adhesion and migration processes including embryogenesis, wound healing, blood coagulation, host defense and metastasis. Interaction with Tenascin-R mediates inhibition of cell adhesion and neurite outgrowth.

Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
This product should be stored undiluted.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to fibronectin were raised by repeated immunisation of sheep with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by ion exchange chromatography.
