AAM55B is specific for mouse Interleukin-15 (IL-15), an immunomodulatory cytokine that stimulates the proliferation of T lymphocytes and acts as a maturation factor for NK cells.
The stimulation of cell growth by IL-15, occurs through the binding of IL-15 to the IL-2 receptor and, although IL-15 and IL-2 exhibit similar biological properties, there is no sequence homology between them. Increased IL-15 expression is linked with inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis and HIV affiliated diseases.
