AAM40B recognises mouse CXCL1 also known as GRO1 and KC, a 7.8kDa chemokine involved in neutrophil chemotaxis and activation, and expressed in a range of cells including monocytes, macrophages and vascular endothelial cells.

Antisera to mouse CXCL1 were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
