8400-2189 is specific forStaphylococcus aureusenterotoxin B, an exotoxin excreted byStaphylococcus aureusthat is the cause of classic food poisoning. It consists of 239 amino acids with a molecular weight of 28 kDa and is one of six antigenically distinct enterotoxin proteins that have been identified (A, B, C, D, E and G).
8400-2189 does not react withStaphylococcus epidermis,Streptococcus pneumoniaeserotypes 1-19 or other Staphylococcal toxins.
