7863-1004 recognises protein gene product 9.5 (PGP9.5), a ubiquitin hydrolase which is widely expressed in neuronal tissues and represents 1-2% of total soluble brain proteins. PGP9.5, also known as ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase 1 (UCHL-1), is involved in the regulation of the ubuiquitin pathway.
This product stains neuronal cell bodies and axons in the CNS and periphery, small nerve fibres in peripheral tissues, neuroendocrine cells in the pituitary, thyroid, pancreas and tumours of the DNES.
Clones 31A3 and 13C4 (Catalogue code:7863-2004)each recognise a different epitope towards the N-terminus of the protein.

This antibody is suitable for use on paraffin embedded tissue sections. We do however recommend fixation in 95% ethanol/5% acetic acid for 2-3 hours prior to paraffin embedding. Specimens which have not been fixed in acetic acid/alcohol will require pretreatment using the microwave-citrate buffer method.
Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using the appropriate negative/positive controls.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
