7170-9208 recognises the N-terminal region of Human Parathyroid Hormone related peptide, also known as PTHRP, a family of protein hormones containing a region that is structurally related to parathyroid hormone and can bind to the parathyroid hormone receptor. PTHRP can be produced by most normal tissues in the body, but causes elevated blood calcium levels following secretion from certain cancer cells.
In an indirect ELISA, 7170-9208 is reactive with PTHRP amino acids 14-28 and amino acids 1-86, but not with amino acids 38-64, 45-59 or 107-138.
