RIG-I is essential for signaling by influenza A, influenza B, human respiratory syncytial virus, paromyxoviruses, Japanese encephalitis virus. MDA5 is essential for signaling by picornavirus. Both RIG-I and MDA5 are responsible for signaling by West Nile virus.
