Mucins are a family of high molecular weight, heavily glycosylated proteins (glycoconjugates) produced by many epithelial tissues in vertebrates. 6378-0155 recognises CD227, also known as mucin 1 which is a breast cancer associated mucin encoded by the Muc-1 gene. CD227 is expressed on most secretory epithelium, including mammary gland and some hematopoietic cells. This protein is overexpressed abundantly in >90% breast carcinomas and metastases.
The dominant epitope recognised by 6378-0155 is the 7-mer TSAPDTR of the mucin 1 tandem repeat established using epitope finger-printing.
This antibody has been tested on frozen human ovarian carcinoma tissue sections and paraffin embedded sections from normal breast tissue. It reacts weakly with sections from small intestine and colon.

This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose.
Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using the appropriate negative/positive controls.

Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
