Tau proteins are proteins that stabilize microtubules by interacting with tubulin. They are abundant in neurons in the central nervous system and are less common elsewhere. When tau proteins are defective and no longer stabilize microtubules properly, this can result in dementias, such as Alzheimer's disease.
6242-0206 reacts with Tau in both the phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated form. It does not react with other microtubule associated proteins or tubulin.
This antibody recognises an epitope between amino acids 95 - 108 of bovine Tau.
