Applied Biosystems® Custom TaqMan® MGB Probes incorporate a 5’ reporter dye and a 3’ nonfluorescent quencher (NFQ), with the MGB moiety attached to the quencher molecule.

The NFQ offers the advantage of lower background signal, which results in better precision in quantitation. The MGB moiety stabilizes the hybridized probe and effectively raises the melting temperature (T_m).

This means MGB probes can be shorter than traditional dual-labeled probes, which makes them better suited for applications such as allelic discrimination, or when designing probes in regions of high AT content.

Applied Biosystems® Custom TaqMan® TAMRA™ Probes incorporate a 5’ reporter dye and a 3’ TAMRA™ quencher dye.

Applied Biosystems® Custom TaqMan® QSY® Probes incorporate a 5’ reporter dye and a 3’ QSY® quencher. These probes are offered with FAM®, VIC®, ABY®, and JUN® dyes, and can be used to support multiplexing solutions for gene expression and genotyping.
