4260-0504 is specific for the the p50:p55 polypeptide complex associated with the early antigen of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).
EBV early antigen is the first detectable marker of EBV infection in human cells. 4260-0504 produces an intense diffuse and speckled staining pattern detectable in the nucleus of paraformaldehyde/acetone fixed cells expressing the EBV early nuclear antigen. Acetone and methanol fixation can be used, but the results are a less bright, coarsely granular nuclear staining pattern.
