Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is a 16 kDa polypeptide that has been reported to exist as a disulfide-linked homodimer. IL-17 is produced by Th17 cells that also can produce IL-17A, IL-17F, IL-21 and IL-22. In mice, IL-17 has been shown to also be produced by activated CD8+ T cells and γδ T cells. IL-17 is a family of cytokines that play a central role in adaptive immunity as well as autoimmune inflammatory reactions.
